The Project Engineer is the technical lead on internal and external projects and is responsible for all technical aspects of projects and products from concept through development, qualification and production.The Project Engineer creates and manages project plans for major programs.This includes planning, development, coordination and direction of a cross-functional team of engineering staff.

JOB DETAILS:  Full time benefited position working first shift.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

         Management, including requirement development, allocation and technical compliance assessment

         Technical Planning and cost estimating for new programs

         Technical risk assessment including risk identification and risk mitigation planning

         Planning coordination and execution of project team technical tasks

         Development and maintenance of the technical data package

         Development and execution of analysis/test programs to develop new products and processes.

         Contributes to successful project completion by participating in the resolution of issues such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard material, and difficult coordination requirements.

         Coordinates project activities with other operating or engineering units to facilitate participation of appropriate staff in project completion.

         Reviews project related documentation to ensure its accuracy.

         Participates in professional organizations to maintain current knowledge of technical innovations.

         Fully responsible for planning and conducting important segments of engineering projects with extensive and diversified engineering requirements.

         Establishes project work scope, task descriptions, budget estimates and manpower requirements including master scheduling that meets corporate objectives and commitments.

         Anticipates problems with assigned projects (technical, schedules and fulfill requirements.

         Provides project management between engineering sections and all related activities including program management, other departments, vendors, consultants, and customers.

         Approves project related engineering data to assure compliance with corporate policies and FAA/military requirements as required.

         Ability to create, manipulate, and maintain accurate (delete & edit) 3D parametric models and drawings to support product development.

         Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.

         Experience with statistical analysis and design of experiments (DOE).

         Experience in electro-mechanical system design, analysis and troubleshooting.

 

Skills, Knowledge and Job Specifications:

         Strong written, verbal, interpersonal and teambuilding skills.

         Has accountability for technical decisions pertaining to the configuration of the aircraft for the project.This includes as a minimum, design, analysis, supplier integration, development, testing and certification.

         Must interface with other PEs and engineering management to ensure systems are compatible and designed within common goals.

         Must provide guidance to direct staff to ensure proper methodology and decision making criteria are being utilized.

         Must express judgment and foresight to recognize with decisions should be elevated to senior management.

         Must be able to organize and facilitate technical supplier coordination meetings.

         Must be able to prepare status reports that accurately reflect status of project.

         Budgetary responsibility for cross-functional team.

         Demonstrated competency in problem solving and root cause analysis.

         Proven leadership of technical teams.

         Proven ability to interpret and analyze mechanical, chemical and/or electrical specification requirements and data.

         Knowledge of explosive material, ordnance devices and/or missile/launch vehicle systems as well as experience with manufacturing processes, rapid prototyping and/or product development is beneficial.

 

Education and Qualifications:

         Bachelorís degree in Engineering from a four year college or university.

         Minimum of 5 years related experience is preferred.

         Previous experience in the commercial aircraft industry
